Description

A small palm. It grows 2 m tall. The stems are 1 cm across. It can occur singly or in clusters. There are 10 leaves per stem. The sheath is 18 cm long. The leaves have 5 leaflets on each side. The fruit are 9 mm long by 7 mm wide.

Edible Uses

In South America, the leaves of species such as Geonoma deversa, Geonoma orbignyana, and Geonoma macrostachys are economically important for their use in thatching roofs.

It is a tropical plant.
