Butia campicola is a very small species of Butia palm with an underground trunk; native to the cerrados of central Paraguay and south-central Brazil.

Description

A small palm. It has clustered underground stems. There are 3-9 arching leaves. There are 14-16 leaflets on each side. The fruit are oval and 1.5-2 cm long by 1 cm wide.

Edible Uses

The fruit is eaten.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant.
