Description

A tree. It grows 5-15 m tall. It loses its leaves during the year. The trunk is 30-50 cm across. The bark is pale grey and smooth. The crown is umbrella shaped. The leaves are compound. They are arranged alternately along the stalk. The leaves have 24-38 narrow leaflets. These can be 1.5 cm long by 3 mm wide. The flowers are cream to white and in clusters.

Edible Uses

The roots are eaten.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It grows in dry woodland often near ponds and streams. It grows from sea level to 300 m above sea level.
