Source: WikipediaPhaleria octandra, commonly known as dwarf Phaleria, is a species of plants in the family Thymelaeaceae, native to Malesia, New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and the Northern Territory and Queensland in Australia.
Description
A shrub or small tree. It grows 1-6 m tall. The leaf blades are 8-23 cm long and 2-10 cm wide. The leaf stalk has a groove on the upper surface. There are 8-25 flowers in a group. They are white and at the ends of stems. The fruit can be 1.5 cm long and almost without a stalk. They are green and turn red. The fruit have 2 cells and 1-2 seeds.
Edible Uses
The fruit are eaten.
Distribution
It is a tropical plant. It is an understorey shrub in the rainforest. It grows from sea level to about 800 m above sea level.
