Description

A bamboo. The culms are 4-6 m tall and 1.5-2.5 cm across. The internodes are 20-23 cm long. They have white powder when young. There are 9-25 branches at each node. There are 3 or 4 leaves on the end branches. The leaf blade is 10-16 cm long by 1-2 cm wide.

Edible Uses

The shoots are eaten and are noted for their sweet flavor.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It grows in southern China between 1,800-2,700 m altitude. In Sichaun and Yunnan.
