Description

An erect perennial shrub in the rose family native to the Mexican states of Oaxaca and Veracruz. It has gray woolly stems with scattered curved prickles, compound leaves with 3 to 5 leaflets, and white flowers.

The fruit is edible.

Red Baneberry: Short herbaceous plant (no thorns), berries on thick red stems, each berry has a single seed, compound sharply-toothed leaves.

Rubus verae-crucis: Thorny woody canes (brambles), aggregate berry made of many drupelets, berries pull easily from receptacle.
