Description

A tropical tree growing to approximately 20 m tall, belonging to the Bixaceae family. It is found in tropical regions and is considered the probable wild parent of cultivated Bixa species.

Edible Uses

The fruit is used as a food colouring.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant.
