Schisandra arisanensis is a climber plant species that is native to China and Taiwan. It grows primarily in the temperate biome. The plant is known for its medicinal properties and its fruit is also edible.

Description

A woody vine. Young branches do not have wings and leafy branches are elongated. The leaves are 5-11 cm long by 3-7 cm wide. Flowers are near bracts at the base of young shoots. The fruit are red and 5-11 mm long by 4-8 mm wide.

Edible Uses

Schisandra arisanensis is used in Traditional Chinese medicine. Its fruit is also edible and is commonly used in Chinese cuisine.

Distribution

It is a subtropical plant. It grows in shrubland between 200-2,300 m above sea level.
