Magnolia laevifolia is a species of flowering plant in the family Magnoliaceae, native to south-central China. Hardy to USDA zone 8, it easily tolerates pruning, and can be formed into topiaries, hedges and screens. The Royal Horticultural Society recommends the 'Gail's Favourite' cultivar for small gardens.

Description

A shrub or small tree. The leaves are small and oval. They are olive green with a golden edge. They are leathery. There are several flowers in the axils of leaves. They are ivory coloured with pale yellow stamens. They have a scent.

Edible Uses

The flowers are edible.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It grows in mountainous areas. In Yunnan.
