Description

A shrub or creeper. It grows 2-5 m tall. The branches can be like woody creepers or stolons. They can be straight or twisted. They are reddish-brown. The leaves are simple and oblong or oval. They are 3-5 cm long by 1-2 cm wide. They taper to the base. The flowers are pink to red. They can have both sexes or be female. The fruit are rounded and fleshy. They are 5-7 mm across. There are 2 kidney shaped seeds.

Edible Uses

The fruit are eaten.

Distribution

It is a subtropical plant. It grows in dry scrubland. It grows from sea level to 300 m above sea level.
