Description
A small shrub. The stems can be 2 m long. They grow from a woody rootstock. The leaves are alternate or in rings of 3. The leaves are narrowly oval and 7-21 cm long by 4-12 cm wide. The flowers are in groups at the ends of branches. They are hairy. The fruit are a flattened oval shape and almost as if having 2 lobes. They are 7-8 mm wide and black.
Medicinal Uses
The roots are used as a treatment against Schistosomiasis.

It is a tropical plant.
