Description

A shrub or tree. It grows 2-10 m tall. The trunk is 20 cm across. The leaves are narrowly oval and 10-20 cm long by 4-8 cm wide. The flowers are green to yellow. The fruit is round or oval and 2-3 cm across.

Edible Uses

Fruit - raw. The yellow to orange, globose to very broadly ovoid fruit is around 12 - 30mm in diameter.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It grows up to 300 m altitude. In Colombia it grows between 100-300 m above sea level.

Cultivation

Succeeds in wet soils. Plants can produce fruit all year round.
