Source: WikipediaMusa insularimontana is a species of plant in the banana family native to Taiwan (coastal Lan Yü), where it is known by the name lan yu ba jiao. It is placed in section Callimusa (now including the former section Australimusa), having a diploid chromosome number of 2n = 20.
Description
A banana plant with an almost-round false stem approximately 2.5 m tall. The flowering stalk curves downward with dark purplish-red bracts 7-8 cm long by 3-4 cm wide, each bearing 8 flowers arranged in 2 groups. The young fruit are square-shaped in cross section.

The bracts are hollowed out and dark purplish-red. There are 8 flowers to each bract. They are arranged in 2 groups and without stalks. The fruit stalk is hairy. The young fruit are square shaped in cross section.
