Description

A herb. It grows 1 m tall. The stems are soft. The leaves are alternate with a narrow blade 11 cm long by 4 cm wide. There are a few flowers on a spike. The flowers are green. The fruit is a collection of 5-7 small fruitlets. Each one is 2-3 mm long. They have deep lobes and are reddish.

Edible Uses

The fruit is eaten as a snack. The leaves and stems are also edible.

Distribution

It is a subtropical plant. It is rare in Swaziland.
