Description

A shrub. It grows 4 m tall. The flowers are on long stalks 20 cm long with up to 40 flowers. The fruit are grey. They are a long 4 sided capsules 40 cm long by 1 cm wide. It has stripes along it. It is slightly constricted between the seeds.

Edible Uses

The fruit is eaten and the seeds are used as a spice.

Medicinal Uses

The plant is used as a medicine.

Distribution

A tropical plant. It grows in deciduous forest. It grows up to 1,650 m above sea level.
