Description
A shrub up to 2-5 m high. It spreads 2-4 m across. The leaves are simple and 6-33 cm long by 3-4 cm across. The are thick and sword shaped. They are dull bluish green above and paler underneath. The flowers are white to pink and 0.8 cm across. The fruit are 8 mm across. They hang in bunches at the ends of branches. There is one seed inside. The flesh is edible.

Distribution
A tropical plant. It grows in rainforest in Queensland in Australia. It grows in the highlands above 1500 m altitude. It needs well drained soil. In tropical Queensland it grows between sea level and 1600 m altitude.

Notes
There are about 250-300 Ardisia species. They are mainly in the tropics. Also put in the family Myrsinaceae.
