Summary
Source: WikipediaFuchsia vulcanica, the Azufral volcano fuchsia, is a species of flowering plant in the family Onagraceae. It is native to Colombia and Ecuador. A shrub reaching 3.5 m (11 ft), it can have pink, scarlet-red, or orange-red flowers. It has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit as a conservatory or greenhouse plant.
Description
An upright shrub. It grows 1.2-3.5 m tall and spreads 0.6-2 m wide. The leaves are narrow and in 3 or 4 rings. The flowers are at the ends of branches. The base is purple and the tube red.
Edible Uses
The fruit is edible.
Distribution
A tropical plant. It suits hardiness zones 8-10.
