Source: WikipediaSolanum pennellii (syn. Lycopersicon pennellii) is a species of wild tomato in the family Solanaceae. It is native to the Galápagos Islands, Peru, and northern Chile. It is being extensively studied for its drought resistance and other traits in an effort to improve the cultivated tomato, Solanum lycopersicum.
Description
A spreading herb. It keeps growing from year to year. It is woody at the base and grows 1 m tall. The stems are 9-12 mm thick. The leaves have leaflets along the edge. The leaves are 4-13 cm long by 207 cm wide. They are yellowish green and hairy. The flowering shoots are 4-11 cm long. There are 6-15 flowers in a group. The fruit are 1-1.3 cm across. They are green.
Distribution
It is a tropical plant.
