It is native to southern China (Guangxi, Guizhou, Tibet, Yunnan), the eastern Himalayas (Bhutan, Assam), and northern Indochina (Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam). It is an epiphyte that grows on tree trunks in mountain forests.
