Description

An annual herb. It grows 20-80 cm tall. The roots are yellow. The stem is 4-angled. The leaves are sword shaped and 4 cm long by 1.5 cm wide. They do not have stalks.

Medicinal Uses

Swertia is used in Indian Ayurvedic Herbal System to cure Fever as in Laghu sudarshana churna, Maha sudarshan Churna and in Tibetan folk medicine. It is also one of the most widely used medicinal plants of Sikkim, and is considered Vulnerable based on IUCN CAMP Criteria.

Distribution

It is a temperate plant. It grows between 100-3,300 m above sea level. In Yunnan.
