Ellipanthus tomentosus is a species of flowering plant in the family Connaraceae. The specific epithet tomentosus is from the Latin meaning 'thickly covered with hairs', referring to the leaves.

Cultivation

Found in the wild on a range of soils from sands to clays. Plants can produce flowers nearly all year round. The flowers are said to possess a strong sweet scent, like Coffea species or like Cananga odorata. The flowers are usually bisexual, though some forms of the plant can have dioecious flowers.

Other Uses

The sapwood is pale yellow. The wood is hard and durable. A revision to the Flora (Vol. 6 part 6) describes the wood as soft and not durable. It is used in local construction works such as bridges and house posts.
