Description

A tree. Young stems and buds have rusty hairs. The bark is greyish-brown and smooth or with fine cracks. It has milky sap. The leaves are simple and alternate. They are entire and narrowly oval. They are 4-13 cm long. The flowers are small and creamy-green and in clusters. They are in the axils of leaves or on leafless small branches. The fruit are round and 3-5 cm across. They are bluish-black when ripe. They have one seed.

Edible Uses

The round bluish-black fruits are edible when ripe.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It grows in wetter rainforest and along gullies.
