Description
A tree. It grows 20 m tall. The trunk is 25-35 cm across. The bark is rough and grey brown. The branches are slightly drooping. They have a rusty covering. The leaves are oval to sword shaped and 24-40 cm long by 7-13 cm wide. Male and female flowers are separate. The fruit is oval and 3-4 cm long by 2.5 cm wide. It has rusty hairs. There is a red aril around the seed.
Edible Uses
The fruit is eaten.
Distribution
It is a subtropical plant. It grows in moist dense forest and ravines between 800-900 m above sea level.
