Description

A tree. It grows 6 m tall. The trunk can be 15 cm across. The young twigs are hollow and the wood is soft. The leaves are large and heart shaped. They are soft to touch. There are small teeth along the edge.

Edible Uses

The fruit is eaten.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It grows in light gaps in forest.

Production

In Central African Republic plants have been recorded flowering in March and November with fruit in May.

Notes

It has also been put in the family Flacourtiaceae. It is an unresolved name in The Plant List.
