Asterogyne spicata is a species of flowering plant in the family Arecaceae. It is found only in Venezuela. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Description

A palm. It has a single trunk. It grows 2-4 m high. The leaves are erect and deep green above but silvery green underneath. The flower spike are erect. The flowers have a scent. The fruit are edible.

Edible Uses

The fruit are eaten fresh.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It grows between 600-1,000 m above sea level.

The leaves are used for thatching.
