Description

A succulent herb. It keeps growing from year to year from a tiber 5 cm across. There are 2 or 3 stems 25 cm long. These rarely branch. The leaves are broadly oval and 2 cm long by 2 cm wide. There are 2 or 3 flowers on short stalks.

Edible Uses

The roots and tubers are eaten and represent a famine food.

Distribution

It is a subtropical plant. It grows in Swaziland on mountains. It grows in rocky places.
