Edible Uses
The leaves are used as a tea. The taste is pleasantly aromatic and agreeable to the palate. At one time this was a popular alternative to conventional tea from Camellia sinensis and is still preferred by some.
Medicinal Uses
The leaves are antirheumatic, antispasmodic, pectoral and stimulant. They are used in the treatment of catarrhal conditions
