Description
A shrub or small tree. It grows 2-8 m tall. The plant is softly hairy with rusty coloured hairs. The leave are 4-14 cm long and 3-6 cm wide. They are narrowly oval. There are up to 9 fruit in the axils of leaves. The fruit are 5-7 mm across. They are dark red.
Edible Uses
The fruit is eaten.
Distribution
A tropical plant. It grows in forest or on open sunny hillsides It is usually between 800-2,700 m altitude. In Argentina it grows below 1,000 m above sea level.
