Description
A ginger family herb. It has leafy shoots 1-3 m tall. The leaves are narrowly oval and 35-75 cm long by 5-11 cm wide. The flowering shoot comes from the base of the plant and is 10-20 cm long. The fruit are a flattened round shape and 6-11 mm long by 6-8 mm wide. There are 9-26 seeds in a fruit. They are brown and 3.5 mm long by 2.5 mm wide. They have lines and are shiny.
Edible Uses
The fruit is eaten.
Distribution
A tropical plant. It grows in moist forests between 1,200-1,300 m above sea level.
