Description

A tropical grass (Panicum tectum, also known as Timam) that grows in fields, gardens, and forests on clayey soil, even tolerating very poor land conditions.

Edible Uses

The seeds are harvested and used as a cereal grain.

Distribution

A tropical plant. It grows on clayey soil. It grows in fields, gardens and forests. It will grow on very poor land.

Notes

There are about 500 Panicum species. Not in The Plant List. Possibly tectum but with different authority and then a synonym of Panicum acuminatum.
