Lithocarpus echinulatus is a tree in the beech family Fagaceae. The specific epithet echinulatus means 'having short spines', referring to the cupule.

Description

A tree. It grows 40 m tall. It has buttresses up to 2 m tall. The trunk can be 80 cm across. The bark is brown and smooth. It has short spines. The leaves are 22 cm long. The acorns are round and brown and 3.3 cm across.

Edible Uses

Both the fruit and nuts are eaten.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It grows in forests, usually near rivers and up to 400 m above sea level.
