Cultivation

Found in the wild on sand, clay, loam, lateritic or volcanic soil, over sandstone, limestone, shales, basalt or granite. A dioecious species, both male and female forms need to be grown if fruit and seed are required.

Other Uses

The heartwood is pinkish brown, red or red-ochre; the sapwood is white, yellow, brown, pink or red. The wood is hard and dense. The hard wood is used to make walking sticks. The wood is used for fuel.
