Geonoma undata is a species of medium-sized palm tree native to North and South America. It grows in the understory of tropical forests at high altitudes. This species has highly variable traits depending on its geographic location and several subspecies exist as a result.

Description

A palm. It can have a single stem or occur in clusters. It grows 2-5 m tall. The leaves are 1-1.5 m long. The fruit are oval to round and 5-9 mm long. This may be the same as Geonoma undata. The naming is confused.

Edible Uses

The palm heart and cabbage (tender shoots) are eaten.

It is a tropical plant.
