Cultivation

Prefers a sunny position. Trees have a moderate rate of growth, able to reach a height of 2 metres when 2 years old.

Propagation

Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a shaded position in a nursery seedbed. A low germination rate can be expected, with the seed sprouting within 14 - 20 days. When the seedlings have 4 - 5 leaves, pot them up into individual containers and they should be ready to plant out 5 - 7 months later.

Other Uses

The wood is fine-textured, straight-grained, moderately heavy, hard, with good mechanical properties and moderately durable. An ornamental wood, it can be used for making furniture and domestic utensils.
