Description

A tropical shrub of the Erythroxylaceae family growing 2-4 m tall in open spaces and 4-8 m tall in forest.

Cultivation

Succeeds in full sun and in moderate shade. Prefers a moist soil.

Propagation

Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a sunny position in a nursery seedbed.

Other Uses

The wood is fine-textured, straight-grained, uniform, heavy, with moderate mechanical properties and with good durability. It can be used for small items in construction, light cabinet making, door and window jambs, lathe work and tool handles.
