Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It grows in the lowland Amazonian rainforest. It grows in dry soils along the edges of forests at about 400 m above sea level.

Where It Grows

Lowland Amazonian rainforest, growing in dry loams along the margins of the forest at elevations around 400 metres.

Cultivation

A plant of mainly low elevations in the moist tropics.

Other Uses

The latex obtained from the plant is of low quality, but is sometimes used to adulterate rubber from Hevea brasiliensis. Wood yellowish or pinkish brown with a greyish cast; fine-textured; light in weight, but firm; takes a smooth, dull finish.
