Diospyros macrophylla is a tree in the family Ebenaceae. The specific epithet macrophylla means 'large-leafed'.

Description

A tree. It grows 38 m tall. The leaves are alternate and simple. They are hairy underneath. The flowers are 3 mm across. They are yellow to cream. They are in small groups in the axils of leaves. They fruit is about 4 cm long. They are yellow to brown. They are fleshy.

Edible Uses

The fruit are eaten.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It grows in forests up to 900 m above sea level. It can be on sandy or clay soils and in drier places. It can be on limestone.
