Description

A creeper or vine. It grows 30 m long. The flowering shoots are very short with few flowers. The flowers have yellow particles. The fruit is pear shaped and fleshy. It is pink of red. The fruit are 4-8 cm long by 4-5 cm wide.

Edible Uses

Fruit - raw. The pulp around the seed is eaten. The fruit is a pinkish to red, subovoid to pear-shaped drupe, usually 40 - 80mm long, occasionally to 120mm, and 35 - 45mm wide, occasionally to 70mm.

The pulp of the fruit is eaten.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It grows in lowland forests and up to 1,000 m above sea level. It can be found on sandstone and in swamp and peat forests.
