Description
A shrub or small tree. It grows 3-20 m high. The trunk is fluted and has buttresses. The branches are often low down. The trunk can be 1-2 m around. The crown is dense and spreading. There are 2 subspecies.

The fruit is edible.

It is a tropical plant. It grows in woodland and savannah woodland. It can be in palm groves and along rivers.
