A bamboo. The culms are 3-4 m high and 1-2 cm wide. The internodes are 20-25 cm long. They have a white powder when young. There are 8-10 branches at each node. There are 4 or 5 leaves on the end branch. The leaf blades are 5-11 cm long by 1 cm wide.
Edible Uses
The shoots are edible.
Distribution
It is a temperate plant. It grows in Sichuan in China at about 3,500 m altitude.

The shoots are eaten by the giant panda.
