Medicinal Uses

The bark was used formerly as a substitute for Winter's Bark (Drimys winteri). It is considered to be stimulant, tonic, aromatic, and antiscorbutic.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It has been recorded between 300-1,000 m above sea level in Jamaica.
