Description
A shrub or small tree. It grows 7 m tall. The branches have dense hairs. The leaves are oval and 5-16 cm long by 3-7 cm wide. The flowers are in round heads The fruiting heads are round and 1.3 cm across.
Known Hazards
Unlike many species in the nettle family (Urticaceae), members of this genus do not have stinging hairs.
Distribution
It is a tropical plant. It grows along streams. It grows below 200 m altitude.

Asia, Philippines, SE Asia, Taiwan,
Cultivation
A dioecious species, both male and female forms need to be grown if fruit and seed are required.
Other Uses
The stem fibers are used to make ropes and sacks.
Notes
There are 35 Leucosyke species in SE Asia.
