Description
A shrub or small tree. It grows 7 m high. There are 4 subspecies. The seeds are orange-brown.

Distribution
It is a tropical plant. It grows in the understorey in the mountain rainforest. It suits humid locations. It also grows in swamp forests. It grows from 1,500-2,350 m altitude.
