Description
A climbing shrub. It grows 5 m tall. It usually has rusty hairs. The leaves are simple and alternate. They are oblong to sword shaped. They are 5-9 cm long by 2-3 cm wide. The flowers occur singly or in pairs. The flowers are opposite the leaves or at the ends of branches. The flower stalks have rusty hairs. There are 6 petals in 2 series. The fruit are oval and 1 cm long. They are brown to red and hairy. There are 3-6 seeds.
Edible Uses
The fruit are eaten.
Distribution
A tropical plant. It occurs in the Western Ghats in India.
