The fruit are oval shaped and 3 cm long by 2 cm wide. They are pale yellow-white. The fruit can be angular with short spines.

Edible Uses
Both forms of cardamom are used as flavorings and cooking spices in food and drink. E. cardamomum (green cardamom) is used as a spice, a masticatory, or is smoked.
Traditional Uses
The fruit and inner part of the leaf stalks are cut into small pieces and pickled in vinegar. They are added to food as a spice. They are pungent.
