Description

A grass. It keeps growing from year to year. It has a woody rootstock and forms tussocks. It grows 10-60 cm high. It is wiry with narrow leaves. The leaf blade is 2-15 cm long by 1-5 mm wide. The flower panicle is narrowly oblong and 3-15 cm long. It is fairly dense.

Edible Uses

The seeds are eaten as a cereal grain.

Distribution

A tropical plant. It grows in arid areas.
