Description
A tree. It keeps its leaves throughout the year. It grows 25 m tall. The trunk can be 1 m across. The bark is rough and greyish-brown. The leaves are simple and spear shaped. They are 12-15 cm long by 3-4 cm wide. The edges are wavy. The flowers are in round heads. Male flowers are in the axils of leaves and the female flowers are on the trunk of the tree. Both male an female flowers occur on the same tree. The fruit are rounded or oval and fleshy but hard. They have a rough surface. They are 35 cm across.

Distribution
A tropical plant. It grows in humid and dry woodland and forests. It grows from sea level to 500 m above sea level.
