Source: WikipediaThrelkeldia diffusa, also known as coast bonefruit, is a perennial herb which occurs in coastal areas and saline flats in Australia. It is sometimes prostrate or may grow up to 0.4 metres in height. The green flowers occur between October and November (spring) in its native range.
Description
A low shrub. It is often low and along the ground but can be 1 m high when amongst other shrubs. The leaves and narrow and 5-15 mm long. They are fleshy and crowded on the small branches. The flowers are small and rounded. They are hidden at the base of the leaves.
Edible Uses
The fruit are eaten.
Distribution
It grows in tropical and temperate places. It grows on limestone outcrops. It also grows on limy soils. It does best in a light to medium, well-drained soil. It needs an open sunny position. It is resistant to drought and frost. In Tasmania it grows on the islands. It is usually near the seashore. Tasmania Herbarium.
