Description
A slender tree. It grows 20 m tall. The bark is rough and grey-brown. It is flaky and has a scent. The leaves are narrowly oval and 10-23 cm long by 4-10 cm wide. They taper at the ends. They are glossy above and greyish underneath. The flowering shoots have grey to yellow hairs. The male flowers are 3 mm across in 10-50 cm long groups. The female flowers are pale green and in 4-8 cm long groups. The fruit is long and greyish. There are 2-6 round seeds 1.5 x 4 cm.
Edible Uses
The fruit is edible.
Distribution
A tropical plant. It grows in swampy ground near rivers in primary and secondary rainforests up to 200 m above sea level.

Plants can be grown from seeds.
