Description
A small shrub. It can lie along the ground and has spreading branches. These can be 1 m long. Young branches have rusty hairs. The leaves are flat and simple. They are 10-20 mm long by 1-5 mm wide and have a spine at the tip.

Distribution
It is a subtropical plant. In South Africa it grows between 70-1,060 m above sea level.
